As a gamer who loves challenging action RPGs, few games have left a lasting impression on me like Bloodborne. With its punishing difficulty, intricate world-building, and unique combat system, Bloodborne is a masterpiece that’s hard to top. However, as much as I love this game, I’m always on the lookout for more games like Bloodborne that offer a similar level of depth and challenge.
Fortunately, there are plenty of games like Bloodborne out there that are just as thrilling to play. From the Dark Souls series, which Bloodborne was modeled after, to more recent titles like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Nioh, there’s no shortage of games that will test your skills and keep you on the edge of your seat. Whether you’re a fan of Gothic horror, fast-paced combat, or just love a good challenge, there’s a game like Bloodborne out there for everyone.
Sekiro: shadows die twice
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is an Action-adventure computer game developed by Japanese company FromSoftware and published by Activision for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. The game was released on March 22, 2019.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a third-person action-adventure game. Unlike FromSoftware’s Souls games, Sekiro has fewer role-playing elements, no character creation and skill leveling system, and no multiplayer mode, but it does include equipment upgrades, a skill tree, and small customization options. Rather than dealing damage to the health of opponents, Sekiro’s combat system focuses on using the katana or other available weapons to crush the concentration of the enemy. However, this does not mean that health levels have lost their importance – a fully “healthy” opponent can easily regain his concentration if not kept under constant attack.
Elden Ring is an action/RPG open-world computer game developed by Japanese company FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment for Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
Elden Ring is a third-person action/RPG with a wide variety of weapons, items, and ways to fight enemies – even more than in the Souls series Although the game has no direct connection to the series, in terms of gameplay it is very much based on Dark Souls. Compared to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the studio’s previous game, Elden Ring has more emphasis on RPG elements and less on action; unlike Sekiro, which had a predetermined hero under the control of the player, in Elden Ring, the player can create and customize their own unique character. The game has about a hundred skills that the playable character can learn and use; unlike the Souls series, these skills are not tied to one weapon or the other, and the player can combine different skills with different weapons. One such skill allows you to summon the spirits of previously killed enemies, forcing them to fight other enemies.
Demon’s Souls is a dark fantasy console role-playing game developed by From Software (with SCE Japan Studio) exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
Demon’s Souls is an action-oriented role-playing game where the player battles demons in various fantasy worlds. The player controls a third-person character that he creates at the beginning of the game. It is possible to choose such qualities as gender, age, name and combat class. There are 10 different starting classes, from knights and barbarians to thieves and mages, each with its own set of qualities, equipment, magic and weapons, which give the initial vector for the use of defense and attack tactics. As demons are killed, the player gains souls, which are the universal in-game currency. Its scope includes buying, repairing and upgrading weapons, and improving the qualities of the character itself, such as strength, luck or stamina. Along with the souls, the player receives items, such as weapons or ore for improvements.

Dark Souls II is an open-world Action/RPG computer game developed and released by From Software for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Microsoft Windows in 2014.
Dark Souls II has an updated game engine of the first game in the series. The core gameplay is a step-by-step exploration of the locations of the kingdom of Dranglik, “seamlessly” connected to each other, and the killing of enemies, for which the player receives souls, which are the universal currency of the world. Souls can be used to level up, buy or repair items, or receive services. The place of replenishment of flasks with estus, restore the strength of items and magic are campfires, through which, in contrast to the first part, you can move around the world from the beginning of the game. However, increasing the level of the character is allowed only with a special character in the central location.
Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Tsushima is an open-world action-adventure computer game developed by Sucker Punch Productions for PlayStation 4. The game was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game’s release was originally scheduled for June 26, 2020, but was later postponed to July 17 of the same year. On August 20, 2021, an extended version of the game, subtitled Director’s Cut, was released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
The game is set in 1274, during the first Mongol invasion of Japan, when the island of Tsushima was conquered and ruined by the Mongol Empire. The leader of the Mongols, Hotun Khan, is described as a “frighteningly sensible assassin. Daisuke Tsuji and Patrick Gallagher served as the models for Jin and Hotun-han’s appearances, respectively. The island of Tsushima in the game is an open world in which the player can move freely; it has many notable places, from bamboo thickets to castles.
God of war
God of War is a series of computer games in the hack and slash and action-adventure genres. It is based on ancient Greek and Scandinavian mythology. The main character of all the games of the series is the Spartan warrior Kratos, who challenged the gods. The main games of the series are developed by Santa Monica Studio, which is the California division of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The gameplay has been redesigned from the ground up and differs greatly from previous games in the series. The trailer shown at E3 2016 showed elements similar to role-playing games (RPGs), such as knowledge points for archery and the ability to use “Spartan Wrath” during battles. This ability is presented as a new take on the “Wrath” capabilities of the previous games. The player also has to search for resources for crafting. Unlike previous games, which involved a fixed third-person camera, the new game has a free camera from behind the shoulder. Instead of the Blades of Exile lost in the final battle with Zeus in God of War III, Kratos uses the magical battle axe Leviathan, which can be charged with elemental abilities and thrown at enemies. Later in the story, Kratos gets his weapon back.
Nioh is a computer game developed by Team Ninja, a Japanese studio, in the action/RPG genre with a historical bias. The game was published by Koei Tecmo and Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 4. The game was originally announced as Oni in 2004. In September 2015, the game was reintroduced to the public with the new title Nioh. On November 7, 2017, the Windows version of Nioh was released.
The gameplay of the game is generally similar to the Dark Souls series, primarily the melee system and the level of difficulty, where you can die quickly if you are not careful. Real-time combat with different types of weapons, such as katana, spears, axes, bows, and Tanegashima wick guns. In the melee, the player can switch between three main stances-the low stance, which allows for fast but weak attacks, the upper stance with slow and powerful attacks, and the middle stance, which is an intermediate option between the upper and lower stances. Most of William’s actions (such as attacking, sprinting, and dodging) deplete the Ki energy scale, a counterpart of stamina.
